1. Basic information on registration

SM WORKS Supermoto wheel sets are high-quality motorsport components manufactured on the basis of tested materials and existing comparative reports.

However, since these are aftermarket parts without their own ABE or parts certificate , approval for road use is only possible via individual approval by an accredited testing center.

Important:

SM WORKS itself does not carry out any registrations and assumes no liability for the result of the check.

However, we provide all technical documentation and comparative reports to make the acceptance process as easy as possible.

3. Preparation for registration

To ensure a smooth acceptance process, we recommend preparing the following documents and bringing them to the appointment:

Technical documentation

-Printout of the technical documentation (page 1)

-Material certificate & laboratory reports for the rims (page 2)

-TÜV and GTÜ comparative reports (page 3)

-Installation confirmation (e.g. from a specialist workshop or master craftsman's business)

Vehicle requirements

The vehicle must be in road legal condition for the inspection :

-Original turn signals, taillight, lighting system and license plate holder installed

-Reflectors front/rear present

-Throttle manifold or standard manifold installed (power restriction active)

ECE-compliant tires (e.g. ContiAttack SM or Michelin Pilot Power etc.)

-No open sports exhaust without an E-number

A notice:

For vehicles with an open manifold or deactivated throttle, road approval is generally not possible – regardless of the wheel set.

4. Individual acceptance procedure

1. Appointment scheduling at TÜV / State Testing Center

   → References to “Registration of 17-inch Supermoto wheel set according to §21 / §33”

2. Submission of technical documents

   → Submit the SM WORKS verification documents as the basis for the technical assessment.

3. Expert assessment

   → Checking for clearance, tires, brake system, gear ratio, and stability.

4. Preparation of the test report

   → If the assessment is positive, you will receive a confirmation of acceptance .

5. Entry in the vehicle registration documents

   → With this confirmation, you can have the change officially registered at the registration office (or state testing center).

5 tips for successful weight loss

✅ Present the bike clean and complete.

A well-maintained vehicle with road equipment appears professional and avoids unnecessary questions.

✅ Check tire clearance beforehand.

Ensure sufficient clearance to the swingarm, brake caliper and fork.

✅ Highlight equivalent parts.

Explain to the inspector that the rims are technically based on GIANT / GLM 7116-T6 – thus equivalent to EXCEL / BEHR.

✅ Submit all documents in an organized manner.

A complete, structured report (including material data sheet) makes a very good impression.

✅ Demonstrate homemade or accessory parts (e.g. brake discs, adapters) with caution.

The inspector should be aware that these products come from SM WORKS and have been technically tested, but without official approval .

We accept no liability for:

-the decision of the testing authority,

-the result of a decrease,

-or damage caused by faulty assembly, unsuitable translations or non-compliant vehicle conditions.

All modifications are carried out at the vehicle owner's own risk .

The testing authority decides autonomously on approval and registration.

This document serves as technical support and does not guarantee approval .
